Many years ago, I was using a 2012 MacBook Pro as my main device. A few years on after purchasing it, it performed very sluggishly and was barely usable for the tasks I needed to perform. As I was looking for new computer deals, I noticed something very consistent. All of the computers were very expensive and were not very good value for money. While considering other options, I realised that SSD's were selling quite cheaply, being quite good value for money. I bought a 500gb Samsung 860 EVO SSD, and followed some guides online about how to replace the old HDD (Hard Disk Drive) with an SSD (Solid State Drive). After performing this upgrade, the computer was astonishingly faster than it was previously, giving it a new lease of life. Most importantly however, this saved me a very significant sum of money! As such, I was encouraged to make a guide on how to perform this upgrade for yourself, so that you can save some money by not having to buy a whole new computer!
This process can work for many Windows PC's as well. I attempted this upgrade on a Lenovo PC and received very similar results to my 2012 MacBook Pro. For instructions on how to upgrade your old PC to an SSD, you can search for specific instructions for your computer make and model.Â
